Polaris 2019: Mathieu Lavoie’s Best Pick

Polaris 2019: Mathieu Lavoie’s Best Pick

After the Titan’s year, Polaris did not slow down for 2019. Indeed, you have heard a lot about the new 850 Patriot, which is a new addition to the engines offered at Polaris. Available as a spring order only, it will probably be talked about throughout next season!

After having tested it in several Polaris models, we can feel a huge difference with the 800 Cleanfire engine, especially regarding takeovers. Having tested a SKS 146 during the 2017–2018 season, I noticed a difference immediately after a few off-road maneuvers with the new 850 version!

However, the arrival of the new 850 engine has put another significant new feature in the shade: the new React suspension offered on the RMK. Off trail, it makes the snowmobile more sensitive and requires less effort to pull the snowmobile towards you. React also allows the RMK to have better sidehill predictability.

In deep snow, we no longer must give the little “hit” when we want to turn to one side or the other. I noticed that the movements were much smoother on the 2019 RMK. The suspension changes the overall behavior of the snowmobile a lot!

Combined with the 850 Patriot and the new React front suspension, the Pro RMK 850 155 is my favorite for 2019. Already my favorite RMK flavor, the punch added by the 850 engine and the fluidity in deep snow enhance the mountain experience!
