Online trials: Baffin Magellan boots

Our collaborator Jacques Turgeon tested the Baffin Magellan boots. They are designed for extreme colds and are rated to perform at -100 °C.  Here are some pictures and comments from our collaborator Jacques Turgeon.

«I appreciated the Baffin Magellan boots for their looks, their lightweight, their anti-skid outsole and their waterproof construction.  The opening is wide enough to let the foot go in and out easily.  The locking snow collar is very useful because it keeps the snow from getting inside the boot.  Also, a single buckle is located at the ankle.  The patterns in the sole are very deep; so the boot grips on snow and ice.  Right at the first moment, I felt comfortable.  The foot was a little tight during the first minutes, but rapidly, the inner shoe fit the foot. »

«I tested the Magellan boots with and without socks during my rides.  I prefer to wear them without socks; this way, I do not have socks coming down to the toes (I ride this way since 1994).  The boots gave me comfortable and constant warmth, because I ride in different weather conditions, in dry snow, in wet snow and in cold weather of last winter.  My feet were always warm and comfortable.

The boots are easy to take care of because the calcium does not stick to the boots.  The inner shoe can be taken off and on very easily.  As perspiration is brought out of the inner shoe, the feet always stay dry.

So, I have been very pleased with the Baffin Magellan boots.  Special thanks to Baffin who gave me the chance to test these boots during the 2009-2010 season.
