It’s in very hard conditions for the suspension, the track, the slides, almost everything that’s in contact with the icy surfaces of Quebec, that we reached the 1 500 km for the season of the Renegade. In spite of the fact that it is not our first experience with the XP chassis, we are in business with a more long track version of this platform equipped with a 137 inch track, the SC-5 suspension « improved » and the very expected E-TEC engine of 600cc developing 120hp. In that particular case, expectations were very high by the manufacturer, by announcing a gas consumption around 25 mpg, 0,2 litres of oil for 100 km, and also poor polluting emissions. On this side, it’s effectively impressive to start a two strokes engine without having the « steam» that usually comes with it.
The pre-program running period in the electronic system of the E-TEC gave gas consumption between 15 and 18 mpg for the 500 first kilometres and oil consumption more pronounced (see consumption facts). But after the first 500 kilometres, a transformation appeared and we obtained 23, 25 and even 27 mpg in a more delicate driving mode. Oil side, the consumption seems…
