When it's time to replace original skis on your snowmobile, there are not 56 solutions. Either buy the original skis or turn to the replacement industry parts such as Kimpex. For the 2017-2018 season, which promises to be very icy in my area, I'm looking for smooth and safe skis. My choice stoped on the Kimpex's RUSH skis. My evaluation will be done in 2 steps. First, a summary of the installation and later my article on the trail performance.

To begin with, it should be mentioned that all parts are included with the basic kit. There are even several additional components since this set is proposed for several different models. Pay special attention to the instructions for your specific model.

Step 2: Installing the handles

Step 2: Installing the handles

The instructions included with the kit suggest putting the nut on the outside of the ski, but to make it less catchy when you have to put your snowmobile in your trailer, I suggest putting the bolt's round head outwards instead.

3rd step: Installation of RUSH skis. Rubber cushion is reused

Step 4: Adding additional plates

In my case, for the replacement of the Pilot 5.7 skis, I added an additional plate underneath the rubber to make the assembly tighter and minimize movement. There are different thicknesses which are standard to be able to adjust it as you wish. Finally, I had to add 3 spacers between the suspension leg and the ski.

Very interesting to note that the ski and the runner are completely horizontal

Now that everything is in place, the next step will be to go for trail testing. I will pay a particular attention to darting and driving precision. The front of the ski has a very special shape to prevent the "zigzag" from left to right on trails. It will also be interesting to see how the skis resist in all conditions.

The RUSH ski width is the same as Pilot 5.7

The difficulty level of this installation on a scale of 1 to 10 would be about 3 since the installation was done in less than two hours and no modifications were necessary to adapt the skis to my Ski-Doo MXZ to replace the original Pilot 5.7 skis.
