Kemptville Snowmobile Klub gears up for exciting season

The Kemptville Snowmobile Klub has been busy. We recently purchased a slightly used Massey Ferguson 4270 groomer to go with our Bombardier BR60+ groomer. We can hardly wait for the snow to get these two groomers out on our 200 km of trails.

Having two groomers this season is going to allow our club to cover more trails consistently when the snow hits the ground, or during a weekend when trails get more use. We understand with the limited season snowmobilers have, that we need to provide well-groomed trails in a timely manner. When you have the chance to see one of our groomers out on the trail operated by a volunteer, give them a big wave to show how much you appreciate the work they have put into providing the great trails our club has to offer! A big thank you to all who helped make this happen.

Meetings are being held every two weeks. We have new ideas for activities this upcoming season, including a public breakfast and open house event from 8 to 11 a.m. at the clubhouse, located at 1505 O’Neil/Pattersons Corners Road. This is your last chance to purchase a seasonal or classic permit before the price increase.

If you own a snowmobile that is 1998 or older you can purchase a classic permit which is $130.

We have added some new outlets to make it more convenient for you to purchase your trail permit. Our outlets are at: Dillabough’s Sales and Service, Kemptville Building Centre/RONA (available from Carola Walt only, Sheppard & Associates, JT Auto Parts, Randy’s Performance, and Jim Perry Automotive (see Scott Hodges).

Once again this year we are hosting our annual Landowner Appreciation Dinner on Sunday, Nov. 18. This is our big thank you to all our landowners.

To raise funds for the club, volunteers of the Kemptville Snowmobile Klub will be selling tickets at Canadian Tire the first two weekends in December on two snowmobiles and a covered trailer. Proceeds from these tickets helps the club maintain safe trails for snowmobilers’ riding pleasure. This is a fundraiser for the club so please purchase a ticket. The draw will take place just before Christmas.

A snowmobile driver training course for students 12 years of age or older will also be held on Friday, Dec. 28 from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the clubhouse. You must pre-register for this with Ann at 613-258-2779 or [email protected].

SNOWARAMA AND POKER RALLY/FISH FRY

Mark on your calendar, Sunday, Feb. 3, which is Snowarama Day. This is where we raise money for Easter Seals. We will team up again this year with the 1st Oxford Mills Pathfinders and Guides who will provide breakfast which is open to the public at the Kemptville Fire Hall.

Snowmobilers will follow about a 100 km marked route. There will be an antique snowmobile display and ride. Watch the paper for more details on this.

Also, for the first time ever, the Kemptville Snowmobile Klub is hosting a Poker Rally and Fish Fry on Saturday, Feb. 16 at the clubhouse. Tickets will be sold separately for either the rally or the fish fry. Watch the paper and Facebook for more updates.

You don’t have to be a snowmobiler to be a member of the Kemptville Snowmobile Klub. We promote family activities, fun, and safe snowmobiling. Hope to see you at our events and on the snowmobile trails.
