Ironwood ISOC National, 20,000 plus in attendance, final numbers unconfirmed

Team BOSS Racing returned to the fan friendly Canterbury Downs racetrack for the ISOC Canterbury National in Shakopee, MN over the weekend.  The new ISOC race day program featured all Pro and Semi-Pro riding in one jam packed day.  For the first time this season sun light drenched the track and racing fans blitzed the facilities’ expo floors and vendors filling Canterbury Downs to near capacity.

Heat racing was once again the showcase of Team BOSS Semi-Pro rising star, Paul Bauerly.  Paul had a great 2nd place start in his Stock heat, but heavy pressure had Paul finishing 4th and sending him to the ever-intense Last Chance Qualifier.  In the Semi-Pro LCQ Paul came out of the hole-shot perfect, his FXR Ski-Doo was hooking up and tuned to perfection landing him a first place finish and a back-row start for the Semi-Pro Stock final.  With a modest start at 11th place, the Paul Bauerly passing show was on; Paul passed rider after rider to finish an amazing 4th place, bringing his FXR Shock Doctor Ski-Doo back into the limelight.   Paul continued his success through the Semi-pro Open class heat, landing him a second after leading the first few laps.  In his final Paul had a good hole shot and finished once again in the top-five in 5th place.

Pro Super Stock perfectly illustrated ISOC “Bar-to-Bar” racing, with many Pro’s swapping paint and graphics.  Robbie Malinoski would be up first in his heat finishing 6th while teammate Dave Allard put his sled in 5th place rounding a front row spot for the final.  With Robbie finishing one spot outside of a transfer position, Robbie geared up for the Last Chance Qualifier.  With a solid hook-up thanks to Stud Boy, Robbie was running good in 3rd, but at lap three, a set-up flaw forced Robbie to pull-off and not make the final.  Dave Allard had a mid-to-back start in the final, ending up with an 11th place finish.

Pro Open racing was scary fast.  Team BOSS brought their BRP muscles to show what their rigorous testing at their private facility had done.  Robbie placed 3rd in his heat and Dave placed 5th, sending both Ski-Doo riders to the front row of the final before the record setting Canterbury crowd.  Within a handful of laps, Robbie was in 5th and chasing down the lead pack.  At lap ten, in one of the toughest races of recent memory, Dave was second to last as he began picking off riders one by one, lap after lap. At lap 19 Robbie switched lines while approaching lap traffic; with low visibility Robbie launched his sled issuing a red flag and automatic disqualification to end his stellar run.  Dave Allard continued to push his 167 Ski-Doo to a remarkable 7th place finish, a solid top ten run.
