For the 2021 SnowShoot, Yamaha was there with some powerful snowmobiles.
The one that impressed me the most was the Sidewinder X-TX 146“ with a 2.25” track.
First, I must say that I tested more than six models, some shorter ones with different types of tracks. The Yamaha quality of finish on each of these snowmobiles is exceptional.
The Sidewinder X-TX is not a beginner’s snowmobile. It produces more than 200 hp, and with the altitude, not a single hp is lost. Even the people at Yamaha told me that the air pressure gives it a little more power.
The turbocharged engine makes a delightful sound that tells you right away that you’re sitting on raw power.
The look of the snowmobile caught my eye, a beautiful distinctive color, and a shape that stands out from the rest.
The gauge is standard, no need for more because when you’re on this machine, the important thing is to look ahead.
All the models I tried had a similar ride up front, with perfect handling. The big difference in my choice was for the track. The power is so strong that I had to have excellent traction, even though it can lose a few kilometers per hour at high speeds. I like to have a lot of traction out of curves. Also, when you brake, a more aggressive track is very helpful.

The comfort of the snowmobile is remarkable; it is designed for long rides. Even at low speeds, the Sidewinder X-TX’s handling is pleasant.
Since we were there to test the snowmobile’s capability, I have to admit that I wasn’t able to use its full power, which means that there is a lot of it. Equipped with a more aggressive track, it’s also possible to play in the snow without any problem.
So, if you want to have power and fun on a trail snowmobile, I recommend it.
