Each year, I visit the Salon to prepare my snowmobile season. I stop at each tourist stand to take trail maps and to chat with the merchants. This year, people from New Brunswick caught my attention. So, I decided that this year, I would make a memorable snowmobile trip in New Brunswick.
I asked 4 of my colleagues of Motoneiges.ca if they would come with me and they all agreed instantly. So, we set a date and a departure point. I was very happy because our colleague in New Brunswick was coming with us and he would be our guide. We left from Hôtel Universel Rivière-du-Loup. This hotel was packed and it was hard to find a place to park; 102 trailers were already parked. We headed for New Brunswick by trails 544, 574 and 548 to enter the province by Biencourt.
We headed for the Moose Valley Sporting Lodge on trails 135 and 151 for lunch. The place is renowned and friendly, and hosts are charming. Five cottages are available for rent and they can accommodate 5 persons each.
Then, we kept riding toward Saint-Quentin to stay at B&B Du Repos for the night. On the way, on trail 17, we stopped at the Chalets Restigouche, another nice place to rent a cottage.
We continued on trail 28 to reach B&B Du Repos. It is also a nice friendly place to spend the night. The weather forecasts forced us to make a decision; rain was announced all over the provinces of Québec and New Brunswick within 48 hours. So, we had to get closer to our trailer in Rivière-du-Loup. Our tour to the Acadian Peninsula would be realized another time… We chose to come back to the Moose Valley Sporting Lodge for the night and to make a long detour indicated by our guide so that we could ride as long as possible.
Signs on New Brunswick trails are very similar to signs on Québec trails. They are adequate, but some improvements could be made at some places.
All along our adventure, trails were perfectly groomed and refuges were available at strategic points. Our guide, who is also president of his snowmobile club, showed us their grooming equipment and even took us for a ride.
If you wish to discover a new playground, choose New Brunswick. During all my trip, I received services in French. You will find all the information you need on Internet or do as I did, come and meet them at the New Brunswick stand during the next Salon. And like me, you will not be able to resist the desire to visit them.
