Government of Canada supports Grand Prix International Snowcross in Rouyn-Noranda

The Honourable Denis Lebel, Minister of Transport, Infrastructure and Communities and Minister of the Economic Development Agency of Canada for the Regions of Quebec, announces that the Grand Prix International Snowcross has been granted funding from the Government of Canada to promote its 2013 edition and thereby draw more tourists to the region from Ontario and the United States.

“By supporting the Grand Prix International Snowcross, the Government of Canada is reaffirming its commitment to fostering the development of tourism, a profitable sector for the Abitibi-Témiscamingue economy,” says Minister Lebel.

The only competition of its kind in Quebec, the Grand Prix International Snowcross, which takes place January 18, 19 and 20, 2013, in Rouyn-Noranda, features world-class snowmobile racing that is sure to delight fans of this sport. The event’s commercialization strategy centres on the use of various forms of media, including radio, the Internet, television and specialty magazines. The contribution from the Government of Canada has already allowed organizers to take part in the Toronto International Snowmobile, ATV & Powersports Show held this past October.

Information:
This financial support, granted in the form of a $35,475 non-repayable contribution, has been awarded through Canada Economic Development’s Quebec Economic Development Program.
