Championship snocross to debut in North Adams, Mass., as East Coast Snocross visits The Range hosted by MVP Promotions
Championship snowmobile snocross racing is coming to the hills of western Massachusetts this winter, and powersports fans need to take note.
Officials from East Coast Snocross (ECS) are anxious for the series debut in North Adams, Massachusetts, as MVP Promotions prepares to host Round 8 of the 10-race 2014 schedule on Saturday and Sunday, Feb. 22-23, at "The Range," a wonderful four-seasons recreational site located on Route 8.
Now in its fourth season of competition, ECS is taking the series to new venues with a goal of exposing snocross to new faces while expanding the geographic reach and fan base. This new stop in western Massachusetts brings snocross to a part of the Bay State that receives plenty of snow and is home to thousands of snowmobile enthusiasts.
"We felt this location would be ideal for a number of reasons," said ECS general manager Fred Mang. "Our hope is to secure a lasting venue for snocross in a part of New England that doesn't see this type of entertainment. We think The Range offers a great layout for the track, pits and a nice area for spectator viewing. We're all very excited about our inaugural race in Berkshire County."
MVP Promotions was created by Peter Greenbush and Jamie Zdon. Their purpose in this joint venture was to promote an idea land owner David Bond had to bring the first-ever snocross event to Berkshire County.
This ambitious trio, along with race coordinator Josh Little, has worked tirelessly to develop relationships with local businesses in support of their plan.
"We showed them potential for income during a time of year when sources for good outdoor entertainment are limited," Greenbush said. "This event will draw people here to enjoy some great racing, producing revenue for hotels, motels, restaurants and gas stations. Everyone we spoke with understood the positive impact, and they all plan to welcome race teams and fans with open arms."
The goal shared by Greenbush, Zdon, Bond and Little is to put on a successful event that the team can replicate for many years to come.
