Yes, it is quiet in Windigo Village, but don’t worry, they love snowmobilers. In fact, all winter sport enthusiasts are gathered in the same place. Respect is the key word. Origin of the name Windigo
The name Windigo comes from an amerindian legend. When Amerindians were living in the area, a man called Grand Jo promised to protect the mountain by spreading the word that he had seen the devil at the entrance of the forest and that the devil had stolen the soul of everybody who dared to step on his territory.
Location
By car
Windigo Village is situated along the large Baskatong reservoir. Depending on your departure point (Outaouais, Abitibi, Ontario or Montreal), it takes between 90 minutes to 3 hours to reach Mont-Laurier. Add another hour, crossing the village of Ferme-Neuve, then just follow the signs.
By snowmobile
Snowmobilers must experience the spectacular ascent of the Devil’s Mountain; get to Mont-Laurier, then Ferme-Neuve and follow the signs that will bring you directly to the Devil’s Mountain. You owe it to yourself to visit this mountain; with its 780 m, it is the second highest summit of the Laurentians. The boreal scenery is absolutely breathtaking and trees along the trail look like snowmen. Believe me, you will live an unforgettable experience during this tour. Spectacular view
Once at the summit, take time to immortalize the moment on pictures. Under clear skies, you will see the Mont Tremblant. And if your schedule allows it, enjoy a halt in the log chalet where all services are offered.
Heading for Windigo Village
After your visit to the Devil’s Mountain, it will take you about 45 minutes to reach Windigo Village and discover this paradise.
Final destination
Upon arrival, follow the signs to get to the reception area and to receive details on your chalet or condo.
