CKX X-Trak Boots Test – Off-trail Confort
I have a good rotation in my snowmobile gear, but when I find a good pair of boots, I keep them until they are no longer usable. When I saw the CKX X-Trak boots, I thought I should give them this chance.
Three things hit me when I received the boots: the look, the lightness, and the fur inside! These boots are extremely comfortable. The fur and rigidity of the boot make it almost like an off-trail slipper! Unfortunately, after a long day in deep snow, I realized that it took a few days to dry. I would need a boot dryer to make them dry faster.
A thing essential off-trail is the grip of the boots on the steps. Those boots allow me to jump from one step to the other with no worries about falling.
As mentioned above, the inside of the X-Trak is covered with smooth black fur. Although extremely comfortable, this has the disadvantage (or advantage?) of being very warm. Quite convenient during a trail trip, it is a little less so when off-trail. Indeed, after half a day wearing the boots, it is very humid, and it is difficult to dry them overnight without a boot dryer. Also, the X-Trak laces are not the strongest. A version with "clickers" to tie the boot would be interesting!
Despite these few inconveniences, I wore the CKX X-Trak all season, and I loved them! I have also used them for all kinds of winter activities other than snowmobiling, and they have always met my expectations. Their comfort, lightness, look, and feeling of security off-trail are the reasons why I highly recommend them.
If you want more information or to buy the boots, you can do it here!
As always, I would like to thank CKX and Kimpex for allowing us to test the CKX X-Trak.
