My suit for the 2020 season was the Elevation one-piece suit from CKX. I have tried it on in all conditions, and there is a lot to say about this outfit.
CKX is continuously improving the quality of the products it delivers every year, and this is especially the case for this product. Moreover, its price is very advantageous compared to the competition.
First, we must mention that this is an off-trail kit. The Elevation has only 60 g of insulation, which is designed to limit the heat loss and promote moisture evacuation.
For the shell, it is a breathable polyester fabric, which I found to be very effective for wind protection with waterproof zippers.
New this year is the knee and seat reinforcement. These are the two places that wear out the most on a suit, so it helps extend its durability. With the cost of our equipment, these small additions ensure that it can last for years. There is also padding on the knees to absorb the impacts. Like any suit, there are elastics to tighten the boots and wrists to prevent snow from entering. There are small hooks on the boot elastics to attach them on the boots.
There were many things I liked about my suit, but what I liked the most was the suspender. They’re comfortable because they’re wide and padded, which makes them more comfortable. Also, they’re fixed in a V-shape facing the shoulder blades, so it prevents the suspender from falling out during the day.
Another addition is an elastic band in the lower back. It allows more flexibility and comfort to move freely. It’s an excellent addition that adds more comfort.
The Elevation has a lot of pockets, which allows you to carry what you want on you without having too many things in your pockets. There are four leg pockets and two chest pockets, one inside and one outside.
Small negative point, there are two openings on the chest, but I wish there were more. It’s good to have more options. I would have taken 2 openings on the thighs and one in the back. Having an opening in the back allows the wind to pass through the suit and lower the temperature inside the suit faster. Sometimes it’s hot, and it’s nice to be able to evacuate the heat as much as possible before sweating.
Still about openings, this suit has a complete opening of the legs. When we arrive in our off-trail spots, it’s great not to have to take our boots off to get dressed and risk setting foot in the snow and starting the day with wet socks.
I think CKX made a great product this year with the Elevation one-piece suit. It has nothing to envy to the other brands. With its affordable price, I can’t help but recommend it. It’s of good quality, comfortable to move freely, and it pushes the snow away.
As for the temperature, my most important point, I can say that the Elevation did well. I found the Elevation to be very well-balanced because the 60g of insulation offers minimal protection that allows excellent comfort without having to deal with too many under layers of clothing! I only wear one short sleeve and one long sleeve dry-fit shirt, and I am comfortable that way!
I would like to thank CKX for the test of the Elevation one-piece suit!
