Caouette receives top honour at CCSO/CCOM Excellence Awards

The Fédération des clubs de motoneigistes (FCMQ) is pleased to announce that Mr. Laurent Caouette is the recipient of the Outstanding Snowmobiler Awarded handed out as part of the Canadian Council of Snowmobile Organizations’ prestigious 2011 Excellence Awards program. The Awards, handed out on Saturday, June 4th during the 43rd annual International Snowmobile Congress held in Calgary, Alberta, represent Canada’s premiere snowmobiling recognition for individuals and organizations making outstanding contributions to organized snowmobiling in Canada. The recipients were chosen by a national panel of judges from nominations submitted by provincial and territorial snowmobile organizations.

Mr. Caouette, a resident of Saint-Théophile and member of the Club de motoneigistes Linière-Marlow (located in the Chaudière-Appalaches region), was honoured before over 300 assembled delegates from Canada, the United States, Sweden and Russia. An active member of his club and the FCMQ for over 38 years, Mr. Caouette has always answered the call when his contributions were needed and is the epitome of dedication and involvement in organized snowmobiling. Recognition is nothing new to Caouette, however, as he was selected from among his peers in 2010 when he was awarded the title of (Snowmobile) Volunteer of the Year for the entire province of Quebec, an honour he received in the National Assembly.

FCMQ President Mario Côté commented that « Laurent is the embodiment of the ideal organized snowmobiling volunteer, a gentleman among gentlemen. » The FCMQ is very proud of Mr. Caouette and wishes to thank him yet again for his many years of selfless dedication and hard work.
