Cain’s Quest Snowmobile Endurance race officially announces the cancellation of the “Ladies Edition” Event. Please note, the Cain’s Quest Main Event is still going ahead March 12th – 19th.
Although the Ladies Edition attracted considerable interest, it did not entice enough teams to warrant the race to proceed. Organizers are surprised at the low registration numbers for this event as it has been an idea that has been brought to the committee on a number of occasions over the years by potential registrants. So when the deadline came and only 2 teams from Ontario had signed up, it was disappointing to have to cancel the race.
Cain’s Quest really hopes to see representation of female snowmobilers on the roster someday. As of right now, there has not been a single woman race Cain’s Quest and organizers feel that with the number of skilled female snowmobilers out there, it is high time one of them steps up to the challenge.
The Ladies Event may be cancelled but the opportunity to race is still there in the Main Event. It’s a greater challenge and race rules will not allow ladies the luxury of having anyone work on their machine as they would have in the Ladies Edition, but there are women out there more than capable of completing the race and likely even placing themselves in the top spot.
The opportunity to be the first female team to register for Cain’s Quest is still up for grabs and is sure to attract a considerable amount of media attention when it does happen.
