Arctic Cat vintage snowmobiles
My favorite season is about to begin and I found myself a little bit nostalgic. I was thinking about the snowmobiles who has been an entire part of my youth. In the beginning of the 70’s, Arctic Cat snowmobiles were all you could find in my parent's garage.
First a little bit of history, Edgard Hetten, one of the founders of Polaris, left in June 1960 to create his own company, Polar Manufacturing in Thrief River Falls. This company will become Arctic Enterprise and will produce the first Arctic Cat snowmobile.
Arctic Cat was, at the time, using names and colors that could remind you of a feline. It was to distinguish themselves from their competitors.
Some of their models are vintage like the Cheeta,
the Cougar
and the Jag. They are solo trail snowmobiles.
Arctic Cat also made the El Tigre a snowmobile with more HP for the speed lovers.
The company wanted to create a model for those who enjoy being two on their snowmobiles, so they created the Panther and the Panthera. Perfect and comfortable for long rides.
Arctic Cat had hard times in the beginning of 1980, but fortunately, they believed in their products and they reopened the company. The vintage snowmobiles certainly helped. I wish the best for this company who make me love winter so much.
