In this highlight we focus on rear storage options for and on our 2020 Indy XC 137. With the conventional tunnel design of the Indy comes many storage options.
First and foremost is the hidden storage capacity offered by Polaris’ AXYS under seat bag.
Look close and you will find 17” of available storage depth. With a little planning, you will be amazed at how many items you can fit into this weather tight space. I use its capacity for supplies that I do not need regular access to.
An absolute highlight of this bag is that it is INCLUDED on all conventional tunnel AXYS model sleds.
Great storage for free, what a nice concept! Nice job Polaris. Be sure to friend SledMagazine.com on Face Book and keep an eye out for an upcoming video on just what I fit in there.
Last year SledMagazine.com long term trialed the Indy 129” XC model. For longer distance rides, we added Polaris’ semi rigid, weather tight Traverse tunnel storage bag (item# 2883570 $199.99 US).
The Traverse tunnel bag has a rigid top cover with zippered main compartment and can be used on any XC, Assault, SKS, Khaos, or RMK model.
For 2020 Polaris introduced a big brother to the Traverse bag called the Adventure tunnel bag (item #2882816 $279.99 US)). This larger bag is perfect for the longer tunnel models and offers significantly more storage capacity with more than 46 liters of space.
The Adventure bag is also a rigid weather proof design with a buckled top covering and a zippered main compartment with netted pocket for easily accessed items articles such as maps, owner’s manual, hand warmers and more.
Unique to the Adventure bag is 2 removable zippered interior bags. Pop them out at the end of your ride and you are ready for a quick hotel check in.
In addition to all 137” and up, full tunnel length models, the Adventure bag can be used on a 129” Indy XC with the removal of the included under seat storage bag. While it is possible, in my opinion it would be less than logical to sacrifice the storage oppounities of the under seat bag. Again watch for our upcoming video on FaceBook.
With the use of bungee netting and the additional attachment points offered by the AXYS under seat, Traverse and Adventure bags, I have easily and securely carried a sleeping bag or soft bag on top.
Each of these Polaris bags are constructed of durable materials for many years of service and their universal fit will likely allow you to use them on new sleds to come.
Next up in our series of Polaris Accessory spotlights, is available storage opportunities up front.
Until then, check us out on the trail, ride right and ride safe!
