Amendments to snowmobile ATV act

Amendments to the Motorized Snow Vehicle and All-Terrain Vehicle Act were introduced in the House yesterday. The main purpose of the changes is to make sure law enforcement are better provided with tools to patrol snowmobile trails. Police and peace officers will be able to establish checkpoints on trails to make sure trail stickers and passes are purchased, and that motorists are driving safely and unimpaired. Right now, more people are using the trails than are purchasing passes. This is a problem because the money from the passes goes to the Snowmobile Federation for the maintenance of the trails.
