20th annual Outlaw Grass Drags coming Aug. 23-25

Sled heads can start salivating for the upcoming winter riding season when the 20th annual Outlaw Grass Drags are again hosted on the northwest side of Princeton.
 
Vintage snowmobile races will be one of the many draws for the Outlaw Grass Drags held on the northwest side of Princeton in two weekends. Two restored vintage snowmobiles will be raffled off at this year’s 20th annual gathering.

Vintage snowmobile racing in 19 classes kick off the Grass Drags on Friday night, followed by bracket racing for newer models in 14 classes on Saturday and Sunday. More draws for the weekend include an ATV test ride course, acres of snowmobile accessory vendors, a swap meet and a vintage snowmobile show.
 
Two restored vintage snowmobiles– a 1973 Arctic Cat Lynx and a 1977 Polaris TX 440– will be raffled off at the gathering. Also, $100 winners will be drawn every hour over the three days, with $2,000 total in cash giveaways.
 
The Outlaw Grass Drags are hosted by the Rum River Trail Association, with proceeds going toward improvements to area snowmobile trails. Clubs making up the association are the Mystic Riders of Princeton, Milaca Rum River Sno Riders, Grandy Northern Lites, Cambridge Drift Dusters, St. Francis Sno Ghosts and the Anoka Winter Knights.

Princeton Speedway heading down final stretch to season
 
More motor action continues at the Princeton Speedway as the 2013 season winds down. No races were held last weekend because of the Mille Lacs County Fair.
 
This Friday night, Aug. 16, will be the Kouba Memorial Races at the Speedway, featuring UMSS Sprint Cars. Racing begins at 7 p.m.
 
The following Friday, Aug. 23, will be the final “Kids Night” at the Princeton Speedway, then the season championships will be hosted Aug. 30. The racing season concludes with the Sept. 20-21 “P-Town Showdowns” at the Speedway.
