Each year SledMagazine.com is exposed to many aftermarket products and accessories. Some are bigger items from bigger companies, while many are smaller items from smaller companies.

In this spotlight we give honorable mentions to several products with proven safety or convenience performance, that we believe are worthy of your consideration.

Mack Studs

For the 4th year Mack Studs have been featured on a SledMagazine.com sled. Year after year, their products continue to give us greater control and safety. For anything to do with your snowmobile transport needs Caliberproductsinc.com can’t be beat. Everything you can possibly need or imagine to make your loading life easier is all in one place. For 2020 their new retracting ReTrax straps made our tie down process faster, easier and more secure.

Also new for 2020 was Caliber’s Edge Glides 2.0 offered in 24” lengths for full coverage. I added a set to my summertime trailer for a smooth gap free transition.

In the later part of the season I had the opportunity to experience several 509 products. Every year 509 seems to bring a higher level of COOL to the market. The 509 BackCountry insulated gloves were not the warmest in my collection but with grip warmers on they were always dry and comfortable. They offered very good feel and dexterity on the bars and looked ride509.com great next to our Orange accented Polaris XC 137.

Whenever I wore my 509 Hoodie or T-Shirt, I always thought I was the best looking guy in the restaurant or relais! (Sorry no photo available).

SledTreds

New on the snowmobile scene for 2020 was SledTred’s sled specific, color accenting, self adhesive knee pads. This small company dreamed big with a stylish, common sense knee saving solution. After a whole season of use, they did not wear, deteriorate, discolor or start to peel off. They always stayed stuck, looked great and softened any impact. Nice job! SledTreds.com

BiteHarder

This is not the 1st time we’ve voiced our high praises of BiteHarder carbide runner and stud sharpening tools. We’ve been believers since their product was introduced. Greg Gilbert

Greg's first snowmobile experience was in 1968 when his Grandfather purchased a new Ski-doo Nordic 371 package including dog sled as a surprise family gift. “Grampy” thought that the Gilbert's would enjoy the new sport of snowmobiling and he was right. Since that first ride as an 8-year-old, snowmobiling has provided Greg with one of the greatest pleasures of his life. The experiences, excitement, adrenaline, adventures, freedom, memories and friendships have relaxed and rejuvenated him throughout his life. From 1985 – 1996 Greg was an active member of the “Arrowhead Mountain Snowmobile Club” in his hometown of Milton Vermont, holding positions of President, Vice President, Secretary, Treasurer, trail coordinator and membership chairman. Greg has also been involved in all aspects of trail construction and grooming as well as regional and statewide involvement. Greg has ridden over 130,000 miles throughout Vermont, Maine and all regions of Quebec. His riding experiences have been predominantly throughout Quebec since his first introduction in 1984 averaging 4000-5000 Quebec miles over the past 25+ years. Throughout 35 years of Quebec snowmobiling Greg has had positive interactions with many members of various groups and organizations. Greg is often in a unique position of being a comfortable, non-threatening bridge to better mutual understanding and communication of how we can work together to strengthen and protect our sport. Over the years Greg became well known throughout Quebec as “Greg du Vermont”, before joining the SledMagazine.com / Motoneiges.ca team in 2012 as a Columnist / Test Rider. Greg has written over 100 articles for SledMagazine.com / Motoneiges.ca, attended manufacturers Snow Shoot and Sneak Peek media events beginning in 2012 and is frequently seen at snowmobile events in both the US and Canada. Greg brings a unique personal perspective and style to his articles and has been a positive ambassador of snowmobiling for over 35 years. He is known throughout his hometown as the guy who thinks and talks about winter all summer long.
