It’s already time for me to give you my first impressions! This is a good sign. It means that I have been able to have fun with my trial machine. For my first ride, I found snow in Monts Valin during the holidays!!! Yes, yes. I was at the 31 on December 31st! I will not talk too much about technical aspect today; I just want to make you feel what I experienced on my very first ride!
Start at 0 km, it was about -25 °C, I push the yellow button and? I do not hear any Bip Bip Bip, the RF D.E.S.S. key is an awesome innovation. Hand and thumb warmers at their maximum level, I push the throttle and there we go on a trail covered with light powder snow. Don’t tell me thoses hand warmers do not work, I will not believe you, including the thumb warmer! It is not so hard to understand how to start them up; you just have to watch to understand that they are working!! Breaking-in period has begun!
First observation : the rMotion gives me the feeling that there is almost no bumps; comfort aspect is a success! In these conditions, I notice that I do not get instant response from the handlebar in turns (understeer). I must say that no adjustment has been made to both suspensions at this moment. However, despite this situation, the machine is still easy to handle and I like it! The next morning, we leave on a harder surface and I take time when needed to adjust and find my own zone of comfort, which I find out rather quickly thanks to its easy-adjust system! Of course, you must wish to understand how it works if you want to succeed! As a result, I get very precise cornering in aggressive riding and even at idle, some darting only at low speed! In brief, I have full control of the snowmobile! In straight line and on hard surface, the machine asks for more! Very positive for the pilot seeking for power on trail! No icy surface… Too bad, I can’t wait to see how the engine will react… In longer edition, will it overheat? I rode on trails with more bumps, with the same suspensions adjustments and I have been nicely surprised! I got quick responses, as they say! I think that the 348 cm / 137 in. edition is really versatile and I absolutely do not feel that I am slowed down in aggressive riding! In bumps and on hard surfaces, I am there and I keep the pace, but this is me! Concerning fuel consumption, don’t be surprised; in the breaking-in period, it is higher than usual!
I have to say that the windshield of the X edition is low, but it provides better wind protection that the previous X models. Of course, under such cold temperature, nothing is perfect, but the much larger handlebar air deflectors, which we forget because they are transparent, are appreciated! It is REALLY easy to bring my luggage, flat iron, hair dryer, makeup, with the LinQ storage system! When I am writting this article, I know I have a lot more kilometers to ride before being able to present a precise report on general features.
