The 2012 Yamaha RS-Vector line-up presents many innovations. Among them, it would be hard not to talk about the addition of the Electronic Power Steering (EPS) introduced on the acclaimed Apex models in 2011. Last season, I tested a 2011 Apex SE and this year, I cannot wait to pilot the snowmobile provided by Yamaha
During my tests on the Apex in the 2010-2011 season, I have been very impressed by the EPS system. Without any doubt, it really allowed the Apex SE to carve through turns with incredible precision and minimal effort. I always had a crush on the Yamaha RS-Vector L-TX and if the EPS system is as efficient on the 2012 RS-Vector as it was on the 2011 Apex, I anticipate great pleasure riding it.
Another innovation is a new moulded ski model with a deeper keel. It is not exactly the model presented to us last spring, being a little different from the skis on the 2011 Apex machines. The suspension has also been modified, adding 15 mm more trail. According to the manufacturer, it increases the handling experience by virtually eliminating darting. The front suspension now includes new HPG shock absorbers that are 20 % lighter.
The RS-Vector L-TX is now equipped with a new windshield similar to that found on the 2011 Apex. It should provide more protection to the pilot.
I will sure appreciate these modifications; I will also enjoy again the Genesis 120FI engine. Two years ago, many improvements have been brought to it to increase its power, its throttle response and its couple.
Now, I can hardly wait for the trails to be open so that I can start the RS-Vector L-TX long-term trials.
Have a great snowmobiling season!
