Ski-doo 2019 in Retrospect
For next season, Ski-Doo impresses us again with lots of new products. Often when Ski-Doo unveils mid-season models, we know that it will be a big year full of surprises. That is indeed the case this year, Ski-Doo did things big for its 60th anniversary.
New 600R E-TEC engine
Ski-Doo and Rotax have reviewed and improved several engines this year. First, in the 600 cc 2-stroke engine category, a new Rotax 600R E-TEC has been introduced and is now more powerful with 125 horsepower, five more than the 600 H-O E-TEC. It was developed with the same technologies as its big brother the 850 E-TEC. It has been manufactured in a balanced way, and it is specially designed to go with the 4th generation REV chassis. It provides a renewed experience and more vivid reactions. I can tell you that because I had the chance to try it out in Quebec and at the 2019 SnowShoot in West Yellowstone, Montana. The 600R E-TEC engine combined with the 4th generation REV chassis is enjoyable to drive, it provides very good sensations for an engine in the 600 cc class.
New 900 ACE Turbo engine
For the 4-stroke, the 900 ACE Turbo engine is a novelty that many were eagerly awaiting. It’s a turbocharged engine that develops about 150 HP and was designed by Rotax specifically for snowmobiles. This engine was developed like the reliable and economical engine that everyone loves, the Rotax 900 ACE. This new 4-stroke, 3-cylinder engine replaces the 1200 cc that has delighted many enthusiasts. The turbo design has been specially made to provide the best performance possible. This engine offered powerful and immediate reactions. I had the chance to test the turbocharged engine in the western United States and Quebec, and I was impressed by the engine. In sport mode I really felt the immediate power of the engine, it provides exquisite sensations and the distinctive sound of a turbo engine. It also features ITC’s intelligent accelerator technology. This technology allows the block to rotate forward to use the throttle with the fingers instead of the thumb and a button on the console allows you to choose between 3 driving modes: Sport, Standard, and ECO. This option is available on all ACE 4-stroke engines.
Ski-Doo Renegade X-RS 900 ACE Turbo 2019
In 2019, Ski-Doo made available to snowmobilers a snowmobile with racing DNA combined with a 4-stroke engine, the Renegade X-RS 900 ACE Turbo. It has a reinforced chassis and KYB Pro 36 front and KYB Pro 40 rear shock absorbers. It will please lovers of bumps and power. With unique colours and look, the X-RS 4-stroke will satisfy the most demanding snowmobilers.
Ski-Doo MXZ 600R E-TEC 2019
As for the MXZ ranges, some amateurs will be disappointed to learn that no 4-stroke engine is available in this category. Ski-Doo explains that it is for a better centralization of the masses and to facilitate the driving that it was conceived this way.
Backcountry 2019 Family
With the growing popularity of the Renegade Backcountry in Quebec, Ski-Doo has listened to fans by creating a new category. Three models are available this year, the Backcountry, Backcountry X, and Backcountry X-RS all equipped with the C-Motion suspension and a 146-inch track. The Backcountry is the basic model in this class, and it has a front suspension RAS 3 with front and rear KYB shock absorbers. The X model, available for spring sales only, is available with the Shot starter as well as with KYB pro 36 rear and HPG plus front shock absorbers. The X-RS is a model with the same features as the MXZ X-RS or Renegade X-RS, a reinforced chassis and KYB Pro 36 and Pro 40 front suspension at the rear. Ski-Doo improved the Backcountry by adding control buttons like trail models and adding the multi-function gauge to the spring models only, two irritants that customers had reported to BRP. Congratulations Ski-Doo to give consideration of the comments of your customers.

In addition to the enlarged panels, the models equipped with the 4th generation REV chassis have a new wider seat and a small integrated 7 litre rear boot.
