Manufacturers Ski-Doo and Polaris have launched their respective 2023 snowmobile lines in the last two weeks. Sales are going well and demand is very high.
However, the quantities of snowmobiles produced by the manufacturers will be limited. Dealers have been given quotas on the 2023 models.
We are talking about the models offered in the spring, but also those sold in season. “Everything is limited and in just two days, I only have 5 or 6 units left to sell” said a dealer. My little investigation at other dealerships indicates that this is a generalized trend.
One dealer in the Gaspé region was receiving calls from New Brunswick and even Ontario to see if they still had some models available for order.
Limited quantities
Snowmobile allocations for dealers are not as much as expected. Manufacturers have been cautious in limiting production. There are still problems in the supply of some components. Chip availability is often the biggest headache for manufacturers.
By reducing the number of units to be produced, the manufacturers want to be able to deliver the 2023 snowmobiles in a more normal time frame. They don’t want their customers to relive what we saw in the winters of 2021 and 2022.
Don’t wait until the fall
If you’re thinking, I’m going to wait until the fall to buy a snowmobile that’s in the showroom or in inventory at my dealership, I say forget it! There will be no unsold snowmobiles at the dealerships this fall.
Five minutes to midnight to order a 2023 snowmobile
At the time of writing, several popular models are no longer available in the Ski-Doo and Polaris dealer network. For the other models, it is only a matter of days or even hours before the remaining units find takers.
