Polaris offered us a really complete line for the 2021 Snow Shoot trials. During the week, I was able to test more than seventeen models. As more of an off-trail snowmobiler, I thought I would fall in love with an off-trail snowmobile, but Polaris surprised with something new for 2021.
I’m talking here about the new Indy Matryx 850 VR1 (velocity rider-first) 137”.
The new Matryx chassis is similar to the old Axys one. It has, however, been lightened a little, reinforced with different alloys and lowered slightly. Polaris also redesigned the fuel tank, making the seat narrower. The hood has also been redesigned with an eye-catching look. The new configuration provides better wind protection for the driver, especially around the hips.
The Polaris VR1’s suspension is equipped with Velocity shock absorbers, which are incredibly effective!
There’s also a new ride command gauge on the VR1: the 7S. It’s a screen that can be controlled from the steering wheel or directly with your gloves because it’s tactile. It can be configured to your liking and offers an integrated GPS.
It’s easy to use and really impressive!
The driving position is intuitive, and as soon as I got on the snowmobile, I felt comfortable and eager to hit the trails. It wasn’t very long before the joy of driving showed up in my helmet and provided me with quite a buzz.
Manoeuvrability and driving pleasure in a matter of seconds.
The power of the 850 is fantastic. It’s instantaneous and linear to the end. The machine is so easy to drive that you have to keep an eye on the speed because you can forget about it!
The behaviour is the same at low speed than at high speed!
I liked the VR1 850 so much that my colleagues had a hard time taking it off me. I didn’t feel like letting it go! I would have continued driving it for a very long time.
I hope you will experience the same frenzy I did when you get a chance to try it. If you’re not so lucky and don’t get a chance to try it out before buying it, don’t worry about your purchase because the VR1 850 will surely be in the top 1 or 2 of the best snowmobiles of 2021.
If you have any questions or comments, it will be my pleasure to answer them.
Be safe and have a good winter!
